The S-3 Solvent Saver System is a microprocessor-controlled system designed to reduce the amount of
solvent, including acetonitrile, used in HPLC applications by up to 90%. The system allows solvent
between peaks to be recycled. Use of the S-3 saves on solvent purchases while reducing the amount of
toxic waste generated. The S-3 Solvent Saver System works with both UV and RI detectors and can be
operated both manually and automatically. The system is CE marked and complies with RoHS.
The S-3 Solvent Saver uses a level sensing circuit to shunt eluant to waste whenever the output
from the system's detector exceeds the user defined level. After the contaminant has passed and
the output from the detector drops below the programmed level, the uncontaminated solvent is
returned to the solvent reservoir and can be used again. The programmed level must be positive
when the system is used with unipolar detectors, like UV monitors, but can be positive or
negative when used with bipolar detectors, like RI monitors. The S-3 can handle up to a 50%
overrange and continue to display the status and signal level. The recycle valve can be set
in the recycle or waste position either manually or by remote control. A QA validation signal
continuously indicates the valve's position.
The Solvent Saver comes complete with the control console, valve, a signal cable, and fittings for 1/16" OD and 1/8" OD tubing.
